“ My family is obsessed with big spoon. We go every Friday night for family night and the staff is always so kind and energetic. They're so sweet to my toddler and are extremely patient. Flavors are top notch. I appreciate the rotating menu and exciting new flavors. The caramel one is my favorite right now! Everything is always clean and adding the kids table was so smart!! We will keep returning every Friday! ”
“ Cute little place! We were staying on an Airbnb nearby and stopped in on a Saturday evening. It was decently busy but the employees were friendly. I'm a little confused by their allergen info. They have a binder with allergens listed but it contradicts their instagram page & the girl working couldn't tell me why. On the insta it says the coffee ice cream, caramelatto, has notes of peanut, but the binder in the store says no and the menu doesn't list peanut as an allergen for this flavor. As someone with a severe peanut allergy I opted not to try it just to be safe but this inconsistency needs to be fixed, especially if it does have peanut in it. I got the brambleberry buckle and it was good! The cake part wasn't my favorite and I wanted more berries but the ice cream was smooth and I loved the waffle cone bits as a topping. I like that the flavors are unique and interesting - definitely not your typical ice cream shop. ”
“ People are so friendly. Flavors change all the time. Can be hit or miss but when they hit, they HIT! The current flavors are fire! But sometimes they can be tryna do too much. Nice outdoor patio to sit at too. ”
“ One of my absolute favorite stops in Bham!! Staff is always so friendly and helpful in explaining allergy-friendly options!! The dairy free/gluten free options are plentiful (typically) and they're actually good!! Not just allergy-good, actually delicious and perfect texture!! The spot itself is super cute and spacious! ”
“ Here for Big Spoons 10th anniversary. Come enjoy what I will call craft ice cream. Great flavors. Even just vanilla covered with their Italian cherries. Love the place. ”
“ I DO NOT come here enough!! So glad to have stopped in really close to closing time. The young lady who helped me was patient and so nice. She was really fast in offering me samples. She was on it!!! I walked away with the most delicious scoop of mint choc chip on vanilla waffle cone! One scoop was plenty. As you know , BSC makes everything in house. The quality does not miss! The atmosphere is modern. There are a few spots to sit to enjoy your sweet treats. I'll be back soon!!! ”
“ The staff at the ice cream shop were exceptionally friendly and patient, even with our lively toddler in tow. We appreciated their warmth and understanding. The ice cream itself was delightful--fresh, flavorful, and offered a diverse selection of flavors to choose from. Among them, the vegan mint chocolate chip stood out. Its refreshing taste of mint from the garden. Overall, it was a pleasant visit, made even better by the welcoming atmosphere and delicious treats! ”
“ Hey ice cream aficionados, let me take you on a sweet journey through my recent visit to Big Spoon, where every scoop is a delightful experience. I savored the Little Spoon Sunday featuring the June & Jivara flavor, a delicious coffee collaboration with a local coffee house. This sundae was a dream come true, with the malted hot fudge and caramel enhancing the rich coffee notes of the ice cream - simply amazing! The experience at Big Spoon is always a joy. They constantly rotate their flavors, keeping things exciting and ensuring there's something new to try with each visit. It's this commitment to freshness that sets them apart. In conclusion, would I come back? Without a doubt! Big Spoon is hands down one of my favorite spots to indulge in delicious ice cream creations. If you're looking for inventive flavors and a fantastic ice cream experience, Big Spoon is the place to be. Don't miss out on this sweet gem - it's a must-visit for all ice cream lovers! ”
“ 10/10 highly recommend! I googled vegan ice cream near me and this came up. While this Sammie is not vegan, I was able to taste the vegan flavors and was willing to risk it all for this Sammie lol. I'm a sucker for anything lemon so the fact that the strawberry shortcake ice cream was going to be served on mini lemon chiffon cakes was a win/win in my book. The gentleman who helped me whom I believe is the owner was super nice and helpful. I left with the complimentary lactaid tablet that they have available (genius!) and a sorbet to go! If you're in Bham or stopping by, add this one to your list ”
“ Atmosphere: Big Spoon Creamery is a welcoming ice cream shop in the Makebhm space. There are a couple of tables inside and a patio area too to enjoy a scoop on a nice day. Service: The person who helped us was very friendly and patient. The counter is actually quite small but we got our ice cream with no issues! Food: We ordered a scoop of the Meyer Lemon Sorbet and White Chocolate Mousse Ice Cream. Both were absolutely delectable! The Lemon Sorbet was bright and had a nice, natural lemony acidity to it. It might've been one of the best lemon sorbets we've tried. It paired perfectly with the White Chocolate Mousse, which had a smooth, white chocolate flavor that didn't taste overly artificial. Overall: We came to Big Spoon on a whim and probably found our favorite ice cream spot in Birmingham! The flavors we tried were amazing and we'd love to come back to try their other ice cream creations! ”
